Minimalist Interior: A theme or a feature of Interior Design?

Minimalist Interior: A theme or a feature of Interior Design?

It's important to note that design terminologies can sometimes be subjective, and different people might have varying interpretations. However, I'll try to emphasize the core principles of minimalist interior design in a way that's easy to comprehend:

Minimalist Interior Design:

Minimalism in interior design is not just a feature; rather, it is a distinct approach or theme that focuses on simplicity, functionality, and essential elements. The goal is to create spaces that are uncluttered, clean, and purposeful. Here's a breakdown of the key aspects:

1. Simplification: The primary principle of minimalist interior design is to keep things simple and avoid unnecessary embellishments. It involves reducing elements to their essential forms and features.

2. Functionality: Minimalist spaces prioritize functionality over excessive ornamentation. Every element should serve a practical purpose, and there is a strong emphasis on usability and practicality.

3. Clean Lines: Clean, straight lines and geometric shapes are favored in minimalist interiors. This contributes to a sense of order and clarity in the design.

4. Neutral Color Palette: Minimalist interiors typically use a neutral color palette, such as whites, grays, beige, and earth tones. This color scheme creates a calming and serene atmosphere.

5. Abundant Light: Natural light is highly valued in minimalist design. Large windows and open spaces are common to allow plenty of light to flow into the rooms.

6. Decluttered Spaces: Minimalist interiors are free of unnecessary clutter. Personal belongings and decorative items are kept to a minimum, promoting a sense of openness and tranquility.

7. Negative Space: Negative space, also known as empty or white space, is deliberately integrated into the design. It helps balance the elements and creates a sense of visual breathing room.

8. Texture and Material: While minimalism favors simplicity, it does not mean the absence of texture. Subtle use of textures and high-quality materials add interest and depth to the space.

In summary, minimalist interior design is a deliberate approach that focuses on creating spaces that are functional, uncluttered, and aesthetically pleasing by employing simple lines, neutral colors, and a careful selection of elements. It is not the only design style, but it offers a distinct and refreshing perspective that resonates with those who appreciate simplicity and balance. And if you would ask me to speak my truth, Minimalist Interior is not for the poor. Thank you.

MY CUTE LITTLE FLOWER VASES

So, I mostly pass by this particular building along Salvation road at Opebi in Ikeja. Most times I am always rushing to catch up with one meeting or one appointment or another. I noticed this entire building unlike others is occupied by Interior decorating product dealer or should I say sellers. There is this store at the ground floor of the building I kept seeing this two wonderful white and black colour flower vases (pair) with a single stick of an artificial fushial pink rose flower on each displaying from the show-window of this particular shop. I kept admiring it from afar. One larger size and the other smaller piece. So yesterday I decided to visit the store. I walked a very very long distance from where I was all because I wanted to see these vases. My dears they were even more beautiful seeing them closely. I met with the owner of the store, she is a professional interior decorator just like myself. She is an adorable senior friend. I priced the vases and I wondered why...
